A one-stop shop for pro bono technical assistance to advance the readiness and implementation of equitable climate projects
Subnational Funding Readiness & Performance (SFRP) provides free, fast, and flexible technical assistance to subnational entities pursuing and implementing climate investments at the federal, state, local, and philanthropic levels. We focus on projects that advance climate equity priorities, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and build climate resilience. We primarily serve capacity-constrained states, local governments, U.S. territories, tribes, and community-based organizations.
This initiative was formerly known as the State Funding Readiness Project, but we changed our program name to better reflect the diversity of subnational entities we serve and our expansion into implementation.
SFRP offers individualized pro bono services to help jurisdictions and organizations advance climate and equity goals. We quickly integrate into your team, providing a springboard for your ideas, surge capacity to help you meet demanding deadlines, and fresh perspectives to enhance the work quality. We strive to build scaffolding to accelerate your learning curves and improve your jurisdiction or organization’s capacity-building for future projects.

How We Can Help
Our service offerings are organized under three pillars of support. Readiness Realignment focuses on adapting strategies to maintain climate momentum, Impact Innovation is geared at empowering subnational solutions, and Award Implementation is aimed at maximizing climate and equity outcomes.
SFRP has an open, rolling intake process and considers requests at any time. We are unique in our ability to deliver rapid response and initiate projects in as quickly as one week. Please note that SFRP support is not guaranteed and is evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
